Day 24: A Very Merry Christmas to All from the Peruvian Amazon

Hello! I am María del Pilar Cachique, president of the Cooperativa agrarian cacaotera Choba Choba and a cacao producer from the Pucallpillo community in the Huayabamba Valley. This valley's forests are rich in biodiversity and play a crucial role in supporting cacao cultivation, one of our most cherished resources. Preserving our forests creates a balanced microclimate and maintains fertile soil—both essential for growing high-quality cacao. These ecosystems also regulate water flows, which help protect our crops from extreme weather conditions.

As both the cooperative's president and a member of our conservation organization APROAGROP, I’ve witnessed the direct impact that sustainable practices have on our land. By protecting our forests, we’re not only preserving their beauty and biodiversity but also securing the future of our communities and the next generation of cacao farmers.

We firmly believe that collective action can lead to lasting change. With every step we take, from forest conservation to fair cacao production, we’re working to create a positive impact that benefits everyone—from our families to our friends and customers.

In this spirit, I would like to extend my warmest holiday wishes. May this Christmas and the New Year 2025 bring joy and prosperity to all our friends and loyal customers of Choba Choba.
