Day 20: Focus on our partners

The partners of our conservation project have played a crucial role for many years in protecting the fragile ecosystems of the Huayabamba Valley. Firstly, we'd like to introduce our on-ground implementing partner, the Association for the Protection of Community Forests (APROBOC). Situated in the Dos de Mayo community, this organization is responsible for managing the "El Breo" conservation concession covering 113,826 hectares. With over a decade of experience in concession management, APROBOC is a historic regional actor in tropical forest preservation. Their responsibilities within our project include budget management, fund administration, activity monitoring, and quarterly technical and financial report production. Most importantly, APROBOC will act as a mentor for the three young associations we support.
PUR, our technical partner, is an international organization collaborating with over 150 companies in 40 countries to regenerate the ecosystems they depend on, while empowering local communities in implementing long-term projects like agroforestry, environmental preservation, and promoting more sustainable agricultural practices. PUR has been implementing reforestation and conservation projects in the Huayabamba Valley since 2009. They played a pivotal role in the Biocorredor Martin Sagrado project, leading to the establishment of the UNESCO Gran Pajatén Biosphere Reserve in March 2016. Deeply rooted in the region, with strong ties and direct support to local community associations, PUR will work hand in hand with APROBOC and the Choba Choba Foundation.
